Jiri the tourism destination


Jiri is the small landlocked valley located in Central Development Region of Nepal. It lies between 27°37' N to 27°41' N latitude and 86°11' E to 86°16' E longitude which is approximately 91 km areal distance towards North-East from capital city Kathmandu and is approximately 188 km by road. It extends from 1700 masl to 3693 masl in elevation with temperate to cool alpine environment. Its geography and climatic condition is often compared to the Zurich city of Switzerland.

Abruptly raised hills, natural and cultural monuments, panoramic views of mountains, green and pleasant environment etc is the natural attractive for the tourists. Jiri being the gateway to Everest is the starting point of trekking to Everest, Dhudkunda, Jatapokhari and other major trekking destinations. Hence Jiri is one of the well recognized and renowned name among national and international arena.

Beside its natural beauty and scenic view, Indigenous Jirel's traditional culture is another promising attraction of Jiri. Magnificent ancient monastery, Gompas, Stupas, Chorten, Religious temples, Church etc in Jiri signifies the cultural diversity. Biodiversity, Natural formations like; mysterious caves, amazing rocks, impressive landscape etc are the best suits for site seeing and adventurous tourism. today many other artificial tourism attraction infrastructure such as view tower, Yak gallery (museum), Stupa, Bicycle trail, Home stay facilities, campsite etc has been built and some are under construction. some mega projects like construction of artificial lake, International Buddhist study school, establishment of cable car, community resort are on the phase of feasibility study.
